"The skier" by

- the work was created for annual festival of Plano B cultural space "Se esta rua fosse minha" (if this street was mine...) in Porto, 2008. I wished to create imaginary space, where people can become somebody, who they dream about. In this case, to become skiers, something really rare in Portugal. I used the symbol of skiing in my other works dealing with my national identity, being Slovak in Portugal. So i let the people a chance to change their identity for a moment and i took a polaroid picture for them, which they recieved back for free. In this blog i am showing the ideal image crop, where people are fully inserted into the painted landscape and also original photo, where you can understand, that the landscape is fake and standing in totally different environment. I wish to move this work forward and to realize it in undeveloped regions to create contrast between the reality and dream of luxury and fun, that western world created.
